BORN OF THE WORD AND THE SPIRIT

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”1 Peter 1:23

Christianity isn’t a religion, nor is it a system of moral improvement or an attempt to become better through human effort. It is the result of a divine birth—a supernatural transformation that takes place in the human spirit when a person receives Christ.

It’s important to fully understand what happened when you were born again. You didn’t merely join a church, adopt a new lifestyle, or turn over a new leaf. You were born of God’s Spirit. God imparted His divine life into your spirit and made you a new creation, giving you a new origin, a new nature, and a new identity in Christ.

Your physical birth made you a human being, but the New Birth made you a partaker of the divine nature. Our opening scripture tells us that we were born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible seed, by the living and abiding Word of God. James 1:18 further declares:

“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”

You were born of the Word; therefore, you have the life of the Word in you. This is also why we’re described as the epistles of Christ in 2 Corinthians 3:3.

The Lord Jesus explained this truth clearly in John 3:6:

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

Your new life isn’t derived from your natural human origin. It comes from the Spirit of God. The Apostle Paul further explains in Romans 8:10-11 that although the physical body was subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives it life because of righteousness.

The Holy Spirit in you is life to your spirit and vitality to your body. This is why Christianity is the manifestation of the divine life in a human being. You have received the very life and nature of God.

Therefore, your consciousness must be shaped by your divine origin. You’re born of the Word and the Spirit. The life of God in you is superior to sickness, fear, failure, weakness, and corruption. You have received a life that is rooted in God Himself.

So, think accordingly. Speak accordingly. Live accordingly. Let the divine life in you be expressed through your words, actions, character, and daily walk.

Glory to God!

PRAYER / CONFESSION

I’m born of the Word and by the Spirit of the Lord. Therefore, my origin is divine. I’m as divine as Jesus is, and I walk in the consciousness of my divine origin and identity in Christ. The life of God is at work in me, and I manifest His righteousness, excellence, victory, and glory today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
