The Eternal Eternal Elixir

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” — Romans 8:11

Through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, God accomplished something extraordinary: He made it possible for us to receive the Holy Spirit and have Him dwell in us.

Jesus said in John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”

On the day of Pentecost, this promise was fulfilled. The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples with power (Acts 2:1-4). Galatians 3:13-14 further explains the purpose of Christ’s redemptive work: “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law... That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Notice the purpose and climax of His redemptive work: that we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives is far greater than many people realise. He did not come merely to help us perform spiritual activities or occasionally empower us to accomplish something for God. He came to live in us and impart His divine life to our entire being.

Consider the human body. Scripture says, “...the life of the flesh is in the blood...” (Leviticus 17:11). Blood sustains physical life. But when you are born again, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in you and brings the life of God into your being.

This gives greater meaning to the words of Jesus in Mark 16:18: “...if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them...” You have been brought into a higher principle of life through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:10-11 reveals this truth beautifully: “But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

The Holy Spirit in you means that divine life is at work within you. Your body is not without hope or helplessly subject to corruption. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you and gives life to your mortal body.

Therefore, believe this truth and consciously live in the reality of it. You are born of the Spirit of God and carry His divine life within you. The Holy Spirit is at work in your spirit, soul, and body, bringing vitality, strength, and the life of God into every part of your being.

He is your eternal source of divine life, vitality, and incorruptibility.

PRAYER / CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank You for the life and ministry of the Holy Spirit in me. I live with the consciousness of Your divine life at work in my spirit, soul, and body. My mortal body is vitalised by the Holy Spirit, and I walk in health, strength, victory, and righteousness every day. I live by the higher principle of the divine life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
