Understanding salvation, the new birth, and your identity in Jesus Christ.

Key Scripture: Genesis 7:1 (KJV)

“And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark…”

Introduction: More Than Turning Over a New Leaf

What does it truly mean to give your life to Jesus Christ? Is it simply changing your behaviour, becoming more religious, or deciding to live a better life?

Giving your life to Christ goes much deeper than personal improvement. It means receiving God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and acknowledging Him as Lord of your life. It is the beginning of a new relationship with God and a new identity in Christ.

1. Salvation Means Entering Into Christ

The story of Noah's ark provides a powerful picture of God's salvation. In the days of Noah, the ark was God's provision for preserving those who entered it from the coming flood.

In a similar spiritual illustration, Christ is our salvation. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus provided the way for humanity to be reconciled to God.

Giving your life to Christ means placing your faith in Him, trusting in His finished work, and receiving the salvation God offers through Him.

2. You Become a New Creation

The Christian life is not merely about changing outward habits; it begins with an inward transformation.

The Bible declares:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Being in Christ means receiving a new identity through the new birth. Your relationship with God is no longer defined by your past, your failures, or your efforts to earn acceptance. Instead, you receive God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

This new life also transforms how you think, how you treat others, and how you respond to the challenges of everyday life.

3. Jesus Becomes the Lord of Your Life

Giving your life to Christ involves trusting Him, acknowledging His lordship, and allowing His Word to shape your decisions and conduct.

Reading the Bible, praying, fellowshipping with other believers, and living according to God's Word are important parts of growing in your faith. These practices do not purchase salvation; they help you grow in your relationship with the Lord.

4. You Receive the Gift of Eternal Life

Salvation is not something you earn through good works or religious activities. It is God's gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8–9 explains that we are saved by grace through faith, not by our own works.

In Christ, believers receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the promise of eternal life. This gives us a foundation for living with hope, gratitude, and confidence in God's promises.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for your grace that has brought salvation to all men through Jesus Christ. I rejoice that I've been brought into Christ and made one with Him. I live in the security, righteousness, and eternal life that you've provided through Him. Thank you for making me a new creation and establishing me in your grace forever, in Jesus' Name. Amen
