Role overview
What you'll be stepping into
To inspect, monitor, and supervise the maintenance and repair of railway track infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient railway operations while complying with engineering standards, occupational safety, and environmental requirements.
5. Emergency Response
• Respond to derailments, washaways, track failures, and infrastructure emergencies.
• Assess damage.
• Recommend speed restrictions where necessary.
• Coordinate restoration of railway operations.
6. Contractor Supervision
• Supervise contractors undertaking track maintenance and rehabilitation.
• Verify compliance with contract specifications.
• Certify completed works.
7. Planning and Reporting
• Prepare maintenance schedules.
• Produce inspection reports.
• Monitor maintenance performance indicators.
• Submit monthly infrastructure condition reports. 8. Team Leadership
• Supervise Permanent Way staff.
• Allocate work assignments.
• Mentor junior technical personnel.
• Conduct performance reviews.
9. Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure compliance with:
• Railway operating rules
• Occupational Health and Safety regulations
• Environmental regulations
• Engineering specifications
• Quality management procedures A. Qualifications
• Minimum of Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Added Advantages
• Certification in Railway Permanent Way Inspection.
• Health and Safety certification. B. Experience Essential
• At least 3 years' experience in transport infrastructure maintenance.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams.
