Job Description
Biyinzika Poultry International Limited is seeking qualified and capable individuals to join its poultry production operations as Poultry Pillars. The role is focused on supporting efficient broiler flock production, maintaining flock health and biosecurity, implementing vaccination and feeding programmes, developing farm staff, monitoring performance, and providing technical support in poultry production and disease management.
The Poultry Pillar will play an important role in ensuring that broiler production activities are properly planned, implemented, monitored, and maintained in line with established production plans, schedules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and flock performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Broiler Flock Production Planning
Plan and monitor broiler flock production in accordance with established production objectives.
Design and implement flock production plans, schedules, and targets.
Monitor flock production activities to ensure they remain aligned with approved plans and timelines.
Identify production challenges and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
Track flock performance and contribute to continuous improvement of production efficiency.
2. Vaccination Programme Management
Develop appropriate vaccination programmes based on the specific breed and production requirements.
Ensure vaccination schedules are properly communicated and implemented.
Regularly review vaccination programmes to assess adherence and effectiveness.
Identify gaps or emerging requirements and recommend appropriate amendments to vaccination programmes.
Support farm teams in the correct implementation of vaccination procedures.
3. Flock Health and Biosecurity
Monitor the general health and condition of broiler flocks.
Ensure established flock health and biosecurity guidelines are consistently followed.
Support farm staff in implementing biosecurity measures and routine flock health activities.
Identify signs of potential health challenges and report them through the appropriate channels.
Participate in regular monitoring of flock health and production conditions.
Promote adherence to established poultry health and biosecurity procedures.
4. Staff Training and Development
Identify training and capacity-building needs among poultry farm staff.
Train and guide staff in vaccination methods, feeding practices, flock management, and other poultry production skills.
Provide practical technical support to staff during routine farm operations.
Promote adherence to established production procedures and SOPs.
Support continuous improvement of staff knowledge and practical poultry management skills.
5. Staff Performance Management
Ensure farm staff adhere to the established performance management system.
Review staff performance and appraisal records as required.
Identify performance gaps and develop appropriate mechanisms to improve staff performance.
Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to staff to improve productivity.
Encourage accountability and adherence to production standards and schedules.
6. Nutrition and Feeding Management
Support effective nutrition review and monitoring throughout the flock production cycle.
Ensure proper feeding practices are implemented according to established production requirements.
Monitor flock feeding activities and identify potential challenges affecting nutrition or performance.
Support farm staff in maintaining appropriate feeding practices.
Contribute to monitoring flock performance in relation to nutrition and feeding.
7. Disease Diagnosis and Technical Support
Participate in the identification and diagnosis of poultry diseases and flock health challenges.
Provide technical support during disease investigations within the flock.
Observe and document relevant flock health conditions and report concerns appropriately.
Support the implementation of appropriate responses following disease diagnosis.
Work with relevant technical and veterinary personnel when additional support is required.
8. Laboratory Results and Health Monitoring
Review and analyse laboratory results in collaboration with veterinary laboratory services.
Interpret relevant laboratory findings in relation to flock health and production.
Participate in developing appropriate interventions based on laboratory results.
Support continuous monitoring of flock health using available diagnostic information.
Ensure relevant findings are communicated to appropriate farm and technical teams.
9. SOP Implementation and Compliance
Ensure poultry production activities are carried out in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor staff adherence to approved poultry production, health, vaccination, feeding, and biosecurity procedures.
Identify areas of non-compliance and support corrective action.
Promote consistent application of approved farm procedures and production standards.
10. Poultry Equipment Management
Use basic poultry production equipment effectively and safely.
Support the proper maintenance and routine use of poultry equipment.
Identify basic equipment-related challenges that may affect flock production.
Ensure equipment is appropriately used in accordance with established farm procedures.
Required Qualifications
Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Health and Production, Animal Husbandry, Animal Production and Management, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in poultry production and farming.
Practical knowledge of broiler poultry production and flock management.
