About CorpsAfrica
Founded in 2011 by Liz Fanning, CorpsAfrica is an organization that provides Africans with opportunities to serve as volunteers in their own countries, following a model inspired by the Peace Corps.
The organization trains young, college-educated Africans and places them for up to one year in high-poverty rural communities. Volunteers work with local populations to identify, initiate and facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects that address community needs.
CorpsAfrica seeks to promote a culture of public service across Africa by enabling participants to apply their education, skills and energy to helping fellow citizens overcome extreme poverty.
Since its establishment, CorpsAfrica has expanded its operations from Morocco to Senegal, Malawi, Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, The Gambia, South Africa and Côte d’Ivoire.
