Job Purpose

The role is responsible for managing and maintaining data centre infrastructure, power systems, and passive telecommunications facilities. The position focuses on ensuring reliable operations, maintaining infrastructure standards, improving energy efficiency, managing contractors, reducing operating costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and facility standards.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Analyse passive outages, conduct troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and prepare reports.

  • Conduct routine power audits, checks, and reporting.

  • Implement and supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Conduct routine on-site passive systems checks and reporting.

  • Take responsibility for passive spares at core locations.

  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFI) for new equipment additions.

  • Coordinate the removal of redundant equipment.

  • Maintain accurate equipment documentation.

  • Ensure redundancy at rack level.

  • Record and manage internal and external customer requests.

  • Review customer requirements and ensure appropriate responses.

  • Manage access to core locations.

  • Monitor passive contractors and ensure delivery in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Plan activities, conduct impact analysis, and ensure quality assurance.

  • Conduct routine site visits to assess contractor performance.

  • Ensure all users of core locations comply with required facility standards.

  • Support passive surveys and RFI activities.

  • Validate project Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

  • Identify and propose innovative OPEX reduction initiatives.

  • Implement, monitor, and supervise key OPEX reduction projects.

  • Monitor and support Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) improvement and maintenance.

  • Manage and report on fuel usage.

  • Ensure adherence to company processes and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with partner contracts and escalate areas requiring improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards at all core locations.

  • Ensure compliance with data centre and telecommunications facility standards.

  • Maintain assurance of Tier III+ data centre standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Must Have

  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree or a degree in a related field.

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Professional certification is an added advantage.
