What you'll be stepping into
Job Purpose
To engage all generation plants to provide generation declarations, plan and schedule power
production in an optimal way in order to meet the system demand, prepare trade bids and
submit into the trade platform, issue dispatch instructions to all generators and schedule
cleared interchanges in the Automatic Generation Control (AGC) server and carry out
generation – demand forecasts.
Key Results Areas
1. Generation Planning and generator scheduling (day-ahead, week)
2. Daily engagement with power plants, eligible generators and eligible consumers for
availability and consumption declarations
3. Assess and determine Available Transmission Capacity (ATC) inputs for power trading
4. Preparation of Day-Ahead Market bids for power trading
5. Schedule DAM exchange volumes in the AGC server
6. Issue dispatch instructions to Generation Plants and confirm available capacity to
eligible consumers.
7. Generation Reporting
8. Forward physical market planning
9. Power System analysis to support system operation decisions.
Person Specifications, Experiences and Competences
• Must have a Bachelors in Electrical engineering
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in power system operations.
• Experience in Generation Planning is an added advantage
• Leadership and supervisory skills
• Possess good communication skills
• Analytical skills
