Distribution Supervisor Job at AB InBev – Jinja Brew

AB InBev is seeking a capable and results-oriented Distribution Supervisor to join its team at Jinja Brew, Uganda. The successful candidate will supervise distribution operations, coordinate delivery planning and truck scheduling, ensure timely dispatch of products, maintain safety standards, and support improved customer service and distribution profitability.

About the Role

The key purpose of the Distribution Supervisor role is to implement and uphold AB InBev safety standards while supervising distribution operations.

The position oversees delivery planning, truck scheduling, and timely dispatch of goods to optimise customer service levels and achieve benchmarked productivity standards. The role also contributes to profitability by identifying and exploiting opportunities to improve delivery modes and fleet utilisation.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Environmental Standards

  • Ensure compliance with company and legal driving and vehicle regulations.

  • Track and ensure compliance with driver working-hour requirements.

  • Maintain site housekeeping standards.

  • Ensure employees wear the correct PPE as required by the site and operational area.

  • Implement and maintain DPO protocols.

  • Incorporate safety requirements into all delivery SOPs.

Distribution Supervision

  • Ensure compliance with 5S standards within and around distribution operations.

  • Cascade global policies and ensure compliance across the distribution team.

  • Continuously validate SOPs through management routines and operational tools.

  • Ensure distribution employees understand and follow relevant processes and standards.

  • Update and use team rooms for routine meetings and problem-solving.

  • Maintain SCL routines and monitor adherence.

  • Use problem-solving tools such as 5 WHY, Abnormality Reports, SIC, OPLs, RACI, OWDs, and PDCA to develop action plans and improve performance indicators.

  • Cascade KPIs and PIs to individual distribution employees and monitor performance.

  • Ensure approved best-practice projects are implemented and their results tracked.

  • Maintain a professional driver image in the trade.

  • Conduct morning meetings before deliveries.

  • Optimise routing and scheduling to improve fleet utilisation.

  • Allocate drivers and vehicle resources effectively.

  • Implement contingency plans to maintain truck capacity when required.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant transport legislation, including truck permits.

  • Perform invoicing activities, including invoice generation, manual invoicing, ETA communication, trip-sheet generation, filing, and record keeping.

Load Plan Execution

  • Manage customer delivery queries and complaints on a day-to-day basis.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis of customer queries and complaints to prevent recurrence.

  • Ensure drivers follow offloading standards at retail destinations and points of collection.

  • Maintain required customer service levels.

  • Establish, document, communicate, and train delivery staff on relevant SOPs.

  • Ensure products are loaded and unloaded according to established processes.

  • Ensure all products are properly counted at both loading and unloading locations.

  • Ensure delivery documents are correctly completed, signed, and issued.

  • Review trip sheets for all deliveries and ensure information is accurately captured in IBIS.

  • Record and update the delivery control register daily.

Delivery Service Levels

  • Ensure compliance with warehouse stock-age standards.

  • Apply appropriate stock rotation principles to support product quality and availability.

  • Monitor distribution activities to maintain required customer service levels.

Inventory Management

  • Participate in handover processes before and after every shift.

  • Conduct accurate daily stock counts and ensure they are properly signed off before and after each shift.

  • Supervise containers handed over to production and ensure they meet required quality standards to avoid DCBL.

  • Receive finished beer from production and ensure all parties agree on the quantities received.

  • Control warehouse breakages and inventory losses.

  • Monitor and demonstrate continuous improvement in the tracking and management of inventory losses.

  • Ensure credit for returned empties is processed into the warehouse within the required timeframe and according to SOPs.

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the Inventory Analyst, Inventory Clerk, Stocks and Settlement Officer, and other relevant teams.
