What you'll be stepping into
Marriott Hotel Kampala is seeking an HR Services and Welfare Supervisor to support the hotel's Human Resources function and contribute to effective employee relations, recruitment administration, staff support, and compliance with organizational policies.
The successful candidate will assist management and the Human Resources leadership team in addressing employee relations matters, maintaining accurate employee records, supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, and communicating HR policies and programmes to employees.
The role also involves supporting employee activities, surveys, scheduling, training, performance management, and general HR administration while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations and HR Support
The HR Services and Welfare Supervisor will:
Assist in monitoring, tracking, resolving, and following up on employee relations issues.
Support management and the leadership team in handling and resolving Human Resources-related matters.
Inform Human Resources management about employee relations issues requiring attention.
Respond to questions, requests, and concerns from employees and management regarding HR programmes, policies, and guidelines.
Communicate relevant information to employees regarding employer-employee relations, employee activities, personnel policies, and HR programmes.
Support positive employee relations and contribute to a professional workplace environment.
Recruitment and Compliance
Monitor hiring and recruitment processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws, company policies, and organizational standards.
Assist management with recruitment and related staffing activities.
Support employee training, scheduling, evaluation, counselling, discipline, motivation, and coaching activities.
Ensure HR processes are conducted consistently and in accordance with company requirements.
Employee Records and HR Administration
Review and ensure accurate maintenance of employee records and personnel files.
Maintain relevant documentation, including interview records and other required employment documents.
Assist with the logistics, administration, and scheduling of annual employee surveys.
Respond to telephone calls and accurately record messages.
Enter, update, and retrieve work-related information using computers and relevant systems.
Employee Welfare and Workplace Support
Assist with employee activities and welfare-related initiatives.
Listen and respond appropriately to employee concerns and requests.
Support management in maintaining positive working relationships among employees.
Contribute to a collaborative work environment and support teams in achieving common goals.
Safety, Security and Confidentiality
Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the appropriate manager.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and employee information.
Handle sensitive Human Resources information with discretion and professionalism.
Guest and Workplace Service
As part of the hotel environment, the successful candidate will also be expected to:
Welcome and acknowledge guests in accordance with company standards.
Communicate with colleagues, employees, and guests using clear and professional language.
Answer telephones using appropriate professional etiquette.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.
Support team members in achieving shared goals.
Other Duties
Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned by Supervisors or management.
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 10 pounds (approximately 4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as required by the role.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Related Work Experience
At least one (1) year of related work experience.
Supervisory Experience
At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
License or Certification
No specific license or certification is required.
