What you'll be stepping into
Duties and Responsibilities
Receives, labels and safely stores water, wastewater, sediment and biota samples.
Analyses water, wastewater, sediment, biota and proficiency testing samples in the chemistry laboratory in accordance with the laboratory procedures.
Participates in method verification in the chemistry laboratory in accordance with the laboratory procedures.
Ensures safe removal and disposal of laboratory waste.
Prepares reagents, standards and quality control samples.
Responsible for environmental monitoring in the laboratories and sample storage areas.
Maintains
environmental monitoring records and ensures
compliance to specifications.Carries out simple maintenance of laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Carries out verification of Chemistry Laboratory measurement equipment.
Participates in field sampling and data collection.
Takes inventory and stock of laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables in the chemistry laboratory.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and experience
An Ordinary Diploma in Science Technology with a bias in Chemistry or Biology or Bio-chemistry.
A Bachelor of Science and Technology in Chemistry is an added advantage.
