The Maintenance Officer – Electrician will ensure that Watoto's electrical assets and facilities are properly maintained and functional. The role will contribute to providing users with a safe, secure, comfortable, and conducive environment, while ensuring value for money across maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct inspections of Watoto properties to identify required maintenance services and repairs.

  • Minimise corrective and rectification work by ensuring appropriate procedures are followed during assembly and maintenance activities.

  • Coordinate the maintenance and repair of electrical appliances and related systems.

  • Ensure organisational tools and equipment are maintained to acceptable standards and are available for inspection when required.

  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of maintenance improvement plans.

  • Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for generators.

  • Assist in managing and supervising maintenance projects.

  • Participate in contract management activities related to maintenance services.

  • Maintain and regularly update inventories of generators, spare parts, tools, and related equipment.

  • Supervise contractors and volunteers to promote a positive, safe, and healthy working environment.

  • Promote compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and established guidelines.

  • Monitor contractors and ensure their performance meets agreed terms and conditions.

  • Prepare reports on maintenance, repairs, and related activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or another relevant qualification.

  • At least two years of practical experience in electrical maintenance and repairs.

  • Computer literacy, particularly proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • A valid Ugandan driving licence.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • A proactive, goal-oriented, and initiative-taking approach to work.
