What you'll be stepping into

To provide operational and administrative support in the management and handling of all caseloads within the Office.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review registration and renewal applications to ensure the completeness and accuracy of submitted documents and information, and follow up with applicants to address any deficiencies before the applications are determined by the Office.

  • Receive and review notifications submitted by registered entities regarding changes in their registered particulars, including updates to Data Protection Officer details, organisational information, and the nature or scope of processing activities.

  • Handle requests for certification of documents held by the Office, including certificates of registration and other official records, ensuring that certified copies are issued in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Provide regulatory guidance to applicants, registered entities, and members of the public on registration obligations, renewal timelines, notification requirements, and other compliance matters under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, Cap. 97.

  • Draft official correspondence, registration determination letters, compliance notices, and other communications to applicants and registered entities concerning matters arising from the licensing and registration function.

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Manager, Licensing and Legal Affairs, including managing correspondence, maintaining case files, tracking application timelines, and preparing reports on registration activities.

  • Conduct research on emerging regulatory trends, comparative registration frameworks, and developments in data protection law across regional and international jurisdictions, and prepare research notes and briefings to support the Office’s licensing policies and practices.

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law is required.

  • A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice is required.

  • Training in Data Protection and Privacy will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in legal practice or corporate legal services within a reputable organization or law firm.

Technical Competencies

  • Excellent customer service and customer-centricity skills.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.

  • Knowledge of evolving domestic and international data protection and privacy regulations.

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
