What you'll be stepping into
The MTN Changemakers Programme is an initiative of the MTN Uganda Foundation, launched under the MTN @25 initiative to support individuals and organizations working to create positive change in communities across Uganda.
The programme is inspired by everyday Ugandans who are making a meaningful difference in their communities. It seeks to partner with changemakers and support initiatives that respond to community needs, promote economic growth, and improve people's quality of life.
Through the Changemakers Programme, MTN Foundation aims to inspire hope, empower local initiatives, and contribute to sustainable community development across Uganda.
Successful initiatives will receive in-kind support to help strengthen their work.
Important: The MTN Changemakers Programme does not provide cash donations. Support will be provided in the form of goods, services, equipment, or other appropriate in-kind contributions.
MTN Foundation Focus Areas
Applicants are encouraged to submit initiatives that align with the MTN Foundation's key focus areas:
1. Economic Empowerment
Projects that contribute to economic opportunities, livelihoods, entrepreneurship, skills development, and improved economic participation within communities.
2. Education
Initiatives that address educational needs, improve access to learning, strengthen skills development, or contribute to better educational outcomes.
3. Health
Projects that respond to community health needs and contribute to improved health and wellbeing.
Principles for the Changemakers Programme
Proposed initiatives should, where possible, demonstrate the following good-practice principles:
Alignment with MTN Foundation Focus Areas: The initiative should fall within economic empowerment, education, or health.
Sustainability: Preference is given to initiatives designed to create lasting and sustainable impact.
Community Need: The proposed intervention should address a clearly identified community or societal need.
Direct Impact: The initiative should have the potential to create positive and measurable change in the lives of beneficiaries.
Stakeholder Engagement: Applicants should demonstrate effective engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Local Leadership: The initiative should encourage active involvement and leadership from local authorities and community leaders.
Partnerships: Applicants should demonstrate opportunities for direct collaboration between MTN, development partners, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
Who Can Apply?
The programme is intended to support individuals and organizations whose initiatives are making or have the potential to make a positive difference in communities in Uganda.
Applicants should demonstrate how their initiative addresses a genuine community need and contributes to sustainable improvement in people's lives.
What Support Is Available?
Selected Changemakers will receive in-kind support for their initiatives.
This means successful projects may receive relevant goods, services, equipment, or other forms of non-cash assistance to support implementation.
No cash donations will be made under the programme.
