What you'll be stepping into

Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), the National Broadcaster of Uganda, invites applications from suitably qualified, competent, and experienced persons to fill the position of Station Manager for Voice of Bundibugyo Radio Station.

Main Purpose of the Job

To supervise and direct the overall process of radio station productions and dissemination through radio station broadcast.

Main Duties

  • Ensure the production and broadcast of quality radio programmes.

  • Maintain comprehensive radio broadcasts that meet agreed public broadcasting standards, house style, and UBC's mission and vision.

  • Ensure radio broadcasting services and programmes contribute to social and economic development, with emphasis on national unity in cultural diversity.

  • Ensure a robust system for gathering, analyzing, storing, and disseminating information to the public through radio broadcasting.

  • Establish radio broadcasting service standards that are realistic, attainable, and cost-effective.

  • Be accountable for professional standards within the radio station, including setting performance targets.

  • Plan and prepare monthly programming activity plans and liaise with marketing and finance teams on promotion, sales, and financial projections for the station.

  • Initiate and coordinate sectional meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.

  • A Postgraduate Diploma in any of the above fields is an added advantage.

  • At least six (6) years of relevant experience in a fast-paced radio broadcasting environment.

  • Experience in broadcasting operations and station management is an added advantage.
