What you'll be stepping into
Stanbic Bank Uganda is seeking a Rehabilitation & Recoveries Officer to support the Personal & Private Banking function in managing arrears, improving account rehabilitation, and supporting recovery strategies.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to the Rehabilitation and Recoveries function, helping to control arrear accounts, reduce the progression of accounts into Non-Performing Loan (NPL) status, and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and control the rectification and clearance of accounts that fall into arrears.
Monitor accounts within the 0–29-day arrears category and take appropriate action to prevent further ageing and progression into Stage 2.
Diligently manage assigned customer visits and implement appropriate recovery strategies.
Maintain and enhance customer service throughout the rehabilitation and recovery process.
Provide regular feedback to Management on the progress of arrear account rectification at scheme level.
Maintain accurate and timely communication with Management regarding the status and progress of arrear accounts.
Identify and manage business risks from both the customer and Bank perspectives by ensuring appropriate control mechanisms are established and consistently applied.
Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, legislation, and the Code of Banking Practice governing the financial services industry.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to support the coordinated management of Personal & Private Banking matters.
Support the implementation and improvement of rehabilitation and recovery strategies to achieve current and future departmental objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
A First Degree in any Business-related field from a recognised institution.
At least two years of banking experience, preferably in Credit, Rehabilitation & Recoveries, or Legal departments within a Tier 1 financial institution.
In-depth knowledge of the collections and recovery process, with the ability to support effective control and management of recovery activities.
A strong interest in building a career in Business Support & Recoveries (BS&R) / Business Credit and Recoveries (BCC).
Experience in a Credit Control environment.
Knowledge of collection procedures, banking lending products, and relevant statutory legislation relating to the collection of arrears.
Sound business acumen and banking knowledge, including accounting and financial principles, general banking, corporate banking, lending, and collateral principles.
