About the Opportunity
Norvik Multispecialty Hospital is seeking a Senior and experienced ENT Surgeon to lead and grow the Ear, Nose & Throat department.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, and surgical ENT care, mentor junior clinical staff, and contribute to establishing ENT as a flagship specialty within the hospital’s growing multispecialty platform.
Key Responsibilities
Provide outpatient consultation, diagnosis, and management of ENT conditions, including diseases affecting the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck.
Perform a comprehensive range of ENT surgical procedures, including but not limited to tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery), myringotomy/grommet insertion, mastoidectomy, and head and neck surgeries.
Manage emergency ENT presentations, including airway emergencies, epistaxis, foreign body removal, and trauma.
Conduct pre-operative assessments, obtain informed consent, and provide post-operative care and follow-up.
Collaborate with anesthesiology, audiology, radiology, and other specialty departments to ensure integrated patient care.
Supervise and mentor resident doctors, medical officers, and nursing staff assigned to the ENT department.
Participate in the development of ENT clinical protocols, quality assurance initiatives, and patient safety programs.
Support outreach programs, screening camps, and community health initiatives as required.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with hospital and regulatory documentation standards.
Participate in an on-call rotation for ENT emergencies.
Contribute to departmental growth planning, including equipment requirements and service-line development.
Qualifications
MBChB with postgraduate specialization in Otorhinolaryngology (MS/MD/DNB ENT or an equivalent recognized qualification).
Minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience as a practicing ENT Surgeon, with demonstrated surgical volume and outcomes.
Experience
Valid registration/license to practice with the relevant national medical council and eligibility for registration with the Uganda Medical & Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
Fellowship or additional subspecialty training in areas such as Head & Neck Oncology, Otology, Rhinology, or Skull Base Surgery is an added advantage.
Proven track record of independently performing major and minor ENT surgical procedures.
Previous experience establishing or leading an ENT department or unit is highly desirable.
