Job – Kampala Campus
The Kampala Campus is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in Molecular Biology to join its Academic Faculties on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will contribute to medical education, student assessment, research, academic scholarship, and curriculum development while supporting the broader goals of the Medical School.
The role is suited to an experienced academic with strong expertise in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, a commitment to medical research, and a demonstrated interest in developing future medical professionals.
The Senior Lecturer will participate in the administration and delivery of the Medical School curriculum, integrating basic science and clinical concepts into effective learning experiences.
The successful candidate will use a range of teaching approaches, assess undergraduate and postgraduate students, provide academic guidance, contribute to curriculum development, and actively engage in Molecular Biology research and scholarly publication.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
Participate in course administration and instruction for the Medical School curriculum.
Develop and deliver an integrated curriculum combining basic science and clinical concepts.
Collaborate with faculty members from other disciplines to strengthen curriculum delivery.
Use multiple teaching approaches, including case-based instruction, lectures, demonstrations, simulations, large and small group discussions, team-based learning, and distance education.
Provide formative and summative assessments of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
Provide individual academic support, feedback, and guidance to Medical students.
Work closely with course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty members, and key administrators to achieve Medical School curriculum objectives.
Student Supervision and Academic Support
Supervise student Molecular Biology sessions, treatment plans, and competencies.
Serve as a clinical academic advisor and/or undergraduate restorative portfolio supervisor when requested by the Head of Department.
Support students in developing appropriate academic and professional competencies.
Research and Academic Scholarship
Actively engage in research in Molecular Biology or a related field within the institution's research themes.
Contribute to internal and external research activities.
Attend and present at relevant academic and professional meetings.
Publish original academic material, including reviews, case studies, and research findings.
Engage in academically related public service.
Professional Development
Provide continuing professional development in the area of Molecular Biology.
Maintain and develop professional knowledge and expertise in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous academic growth over the next five years.

Minimum Requirements
PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognised institution of higher learning.
Master's degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognised institution of higher learning.
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution of higher learning.
A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is an added advantage.
Completed specialist training in Molecular Biology or Biotechnology.
Willingness to continue growing professionally over the next five years.
At least 3 years of teaching experience at university level.
At least two new scholarly articles published in internationally recognised journals within the candidate's area of academic expertise.
Registered or eligible for full registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
Demonstrated commitment to medical research.
High personal and professional integrity.
Must be a committed and practising Christian.
