What you'll be stepping into
The Shift Quality Control (QC) Supervisor will supervise shift laboratory technicians and oversee real-time quality control operations to ensure beverage quality, integrity, and safety.
The role is responsible for verifying critical processing parameters such as Brix, carbonation, and dissolved air levels, authorizing production line start-ups and batch releases, and ensuring compliance with approved quality, safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Control and Testing
Verify Brix, carbonation, dissolved air levels, and other physicochemical parameters against established quality specifications.
Conduct and verify laboratory analyses required for production and finished-product quality control.
Authorize packaging line start-ups only after confirming compliance with applicable quality requirements.
Release finished batches only after verifying that all required standards and specifications have been met.
Monitor real-time quality control activities throughout the production shift.
Shift Supervision
Supervise laboratory technicians by allocating daily testing responsibilities and monitoring performance.
Conduct structured shift handovers to ensure continuity of quality control activities and communication of outstanding issues.
Provide guidance to laboratory personnel to ensure testing is performed accurately and according to approved procedures.
Non-Conformance and Corrective Actions
Identify, record, and log non-conformances promptly.
Support root cause analysis and the implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
Escalate suspected product contamination, serious quality deviations, and major safety hazards immediately through established reporting channels.
Work with relevant teams to prevent recurrence of identified quality issues.
Compliance, Hygiene and Safety
Enforce approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), hygiene standards, and safety protocols.
Prevent informal process shortcuts that could compromise product quality, food safety, or employee safety.
Ensure quality control activities comply with applicable operational and regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable laboratory records, quality logs, and shift reports.
Ensure documentation is complete and readily available for audits and management reviews.
Communicate significant quality findings and shift-related issues to relevant stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and Utility teams to resolve quality deviations and operational bottlenecks efficiently.
Support timely decision-making and corrective action when quality or production issues arise.

Education and Qualifications
Candidates should possess one of the following relevant qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Industrial Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Quality Management, Industrial or Production Engineering, Environmental Health, Agriculture, or a directly related technical field.
Higher Diploma or Ordinary Diploma in a relevant science, laboratory, or technical discipline combined with practical supervisory experience.
Recognised TVET, UBTEB, or professional certifications in quality assurance, laboratory technology, food safety, or supervisory management, including equivalent accredited international qualifications.
Experience
At least 3 years of experience supervising laboratory quality control operations in liquid processing.
