Role overview
What you'll be stepping into
The Temporary Infrastructure Implementation Engineer will participate in the implementation of IT infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on network extension, last-mile connectivity, and the expansion of backhaul networks.
Key Accountabilities
Participate in monitoring NITA-U infrastructure and conduct scheduled periodic assessments to evaluate the health and performance of IT infrastructure.
Conduct technical surveys required for developing designs for network installations.
Supervise the installation of optical fibre cables, optical switching networks, and related civil works required for backhaul network extensions, last-mile connectivity projects, repairs, and relocation of existing infrastructure.
Provide technical support to public and private sector agencies implementing IT infrastructure projects to promote high-quality, cost-effective, and timely project delivery.
Support the design and development of IT infrastructure projects.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is essential.
Certificates in the Operation and Maintenance of Campus Networks and Wireless Networks will be an added advantage.
Experience
A minimum of six (6) months of working experience in the deployment of last-mile networks, backhaul networks, and connectivity projects.
Technical Competencies
Practical experience in the deployment of last-mile connectivity solutions.
Knowledge and experience in optical switching technologies.
Experience with wireless technologies and related IT infrastructure technologies.
Understanding of network infrastructure deployment, connectivity solutions, and associated technologies.
Behavioural Competencies
Ability to work independently and take initiative while also working effectively as part of a team.
Ability to establish credibility, build trust, and develop effective partnerships with stakeholders.
Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills.
