Opportunity Bank invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Transactional Banker.
Job Purpose
The Transactional Banker will develop and manage transactional banking relationships with small and medium enterprise (SME) customers by providing appropriate cash management, payments, collections, trade finance, foreign exchange, and digital banking solutions.
The role will focus on growing transaction volumes, fee income, and customer relationships while ensuring excellent service delivery and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Transactional Banking and Customer Relationship Management
Manage transactional banking relationships with assigned SME customers.
Understand customers’ business operations, cash flows, and financial needs and recommend suitable banking solutions.
Acquire new customers and identify opportunities to increase the Bank’s share of customers’ transactional business.
Grow customer transaction volumes, deposits, and non-funded income/fee revenue.
Maintain strong relationships with customers and conduct regular customer visits and reviews.
Transaction Banking Solutions
Provide appropriate solutions covering:
Cash management.
Payments and collections.
Local and international transfers.
Internet and corporate banking.
Foreign exchange.
Trade finance.
Business Development and Sales
Work closely with Relationship Managers to identify opportunities and develop customer proposals and solution structures.
Monitor customer transaction activity and identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling.
Prepare customer presentations, proposals, pricing requests, and other business documentation.
Monitor transaction volumes, revenues, customer profitability, and pipeline performance.
Identify opportunities to grow the Bank’s transactional business and achieve agreed business targets.
Operations and Service Delivery
Coordinate with Operations to ensure customer transactions are processed accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
Resolve transaction-related customer complaints and coordinate with relevant internal departments to address service issues.
Work closely with SME Banking, Treasury, Credit, Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams to ensure effective service delivery.
Risk and Compliance
Ensure all customer activities comply with KYC, AML, sanctions, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain appropriate customer and transaction documentation in line with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Product Knowledge and Market Awareness
Keep up to date with developments in transactional banking products, digital banking, payments, and trade finance.
Use knowledge of banking products and customer needs to recommend relevant solutions and enhance customer value.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Previous banking or financial services experience, preferably in corporate, commercial, SME, or transaction banking.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the banking or financial services sector.
Personal Skills and Abilities
Good understanding of cash management, payments, trade finance, and foreign exchange.
Strong sales and business development skills.
Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
Ability to analyse customer businesses and understand their cash-flow requirements.
Good knowledge of banking regulations, KYC, and AML requirements.
Strong negotiation, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple internal teams and meet business targets.
