About the Opportunity
CIC General Insurance (U) Ltd is inviting applications for the position of Unit Manager – General Business in Kampala, Mbarara, Gulu, Mbale and Jinja.
The successful candidates will be responsible for managing, developing and improving the performance of the Unit workforce to achieve established General Business targets. The Unit Managers will supervise Sales Agents and coordinate General Business activities within their respective units.
This role is suitable for an experienced insurance professional with strong leadership, sales supervision, training and business development skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Unit Managers will be responsible for the following:
Recruit, train and retain a minimum of 15 Sales Agents within the assigned unit.
Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities and provide recommendations to the Agency Manager.
Propose product improvements based on market findings and customer needs.
Drive the achievement of Unit sales targets, including MPI, Case Count, API and Persistence.
Provide continuous and effective training to Sales Agents on insurance products, procedures and related requirements.
Develop and implement promotional activities aimed at increasing product awareness and supporting sales growth.
Monitor the conduct and performance of Sales Agents within the unit.
Recommend appropriate disciplinary action to the Disciplinary Board where Sales Agents contravene IRA regulations or the CIC Code of Ethics.
Supervise and coordinate General Business activities to support the overall performance of the unit.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants for the Unit Manager – General Business position should meet the following requirements:
A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
A Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (COP).
A valid IRA Agent License.
At least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role within the insurance industry.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Good supervision and team management abilities.
Strong training and coaching skills.
Good computer skills.
A clear understanding of the Life Assurance business.
