About the MEAL Internship
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) function forms part of ChildFund Kenya’s Programmes and Sponsorship Department. The department works closely with implementing partners and project teams to strengthen data systems, improve evidence-based decision-making, and promote organizational learning.
The internship is specifically designed to help young professionals gain hands-on experience in:

Main Responsibilities
The successful intern will support various monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities across ChildFund’s programs.

Results-Based Management
Responsibilities include:
Supporting annual project reviews and reflection sessions.
Analyzing program data and performance trends.
Assisting with data quality assurance processes.
Supporting safe data storage and privacy compliance.
Participating in evaluations, assessments, and research activities.
Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
These tasks will provide valuable exposure to evidence-based program management and development programming.
Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)
The intern will help strengthen accountability systems by:
Supporting Complaints Feedback and Response Mechanisms (CFRM/CFM).
Logging and categorizing community feedback.
Monitoring complaint referrals and follow-up actions.
Participating in community sensitization activities.
Promoting transparency and responsiveness within programs.
This component offers practical experience in community engagement and accountability practices increasingly valued across the humanitarian and development sectors.
Knowledge Management and Learning
The internship includes significant exposure to organizational learning processes.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting monthly and quarterly MEAL reporting.
Assisting with learning workshops and programme reviews.
Supporting SharePoint data management and document uploads.
Developing information products and learning materials.
Contributing to donor pitch decks and project briefs.
Preparing case studies and success stories.
Supporting project launch and close-out workshops.
Updating lessons learned databases.
Assisting in organizing webinars and learning events.
These responsibilities will help interns develop skills in knowledge management, communication, and organizational learning.
