About the opportunity
What this programme is offering
The three-month, part-time fellowships are part of a joint initiative between CfA and the Norwegian ministry of foreign affairs to strengthen information integrity by mapping Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Politically Influential Persons (PIPs) in South Africa during the municipal election period.
The fellows will support the collection and verification of data points and social media identifiers linked to Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Politically Influential Persons (PIPs) in South Africa, with particular focus on the country’s local government elections scheduled for 04 November 2026.
The primary source for identifying PEPs/PIPs will be official records, including electoral body datasets, government gazettes, and other verified public registries.
Successful applicants will work closely with the iLAB team to manually gather and validate social media identifiers and populate structured civic data fields within the broader civic data collection project. The goal is to build comprehensive, standardised profiles of politically exposed individuals across the continent.
We need your help to complete this fellowship questionnaire so that we better understand your target audience reach across various social media platforms. Your personal identification information (PII) will not be shared with anyone outside of CfA. We will only use your personal information to help communicate with you during the fellowship, or to provide ongoing support to you afterwards if you request mentoring.
This questionnaire will take you about 10 minutes to complete. We encourage you to be as candid as possible as this will guide our selection process.
By clicking 'Submit,' you consent to Code for Africa (CfA) collecting and processing the information you provide, including personally identifiable information such as your name, age, gender, country and/or area of residence, organisation, phone number, and social media account details. This information will be used solely for the purpose of assessing your eligibility and selection for the fellowship. Relevant information including name, age, gender, country and/or area of residence, organisation, phone number, and social media account details will be shared with the project partner, the Norwegian ministry of foreign affairs, strictly for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) purposes. All data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and organisational safeguards.
