What this programme is offering

Global Investigative Journalism Conference Fellowship 2027 in the Netherlands: Fully Funded Opportunity for Global South Journalists

Are you a journalist passionate about uncovering the truth, exposing corruption, and holding powerful institutions accountable? The Global Investigative Journalism Conference Fellowship 2027 (GIJC27) offers an exciting opportunity to connect with leading investigative journalists, strengthen your reporting skills, and gain international exposure in the Netherlands.

The fellowship supports eligible journalists from developing and transitioning countries to attend the 15th Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from 19–23 October 2027.

Organised by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) in partnership with the Dutch-Flemish Association of Investigative Journalists (VVOJ), the conference will bring together journalists and media professionals to exchange knowledge, explore investigative reporting techniques, and discuss emerging challenges in journalism.

Fellowship Benefits

Successful applicants selected for a full fellowship will receive support covering the following expenses:

  • Round-trip airfare: Travel to Rotterdam or the nearest major airport.

  • Airport transfers: Transportation between the airport and conference hotel.

  • Accommodation: Hotel accommodation for four nights.

  • Conference registration: Access to the conference programme.

  • Meals: Breakfast on conference days and lunch on full conference days.

  • Networking opportunities: Participation in the opening cocktail reception and the conference award ceremony dinner.

These benefits enable selected fellows to participate in the conference while reducing the financial burden of international travel.

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship is open to professional journalists working in developing or transitioning countries, including those involved in:

  • Print journalism

  • Online and digital journalism

  • Television and video journalism

  • Radio journalism

Experience in investigative journalism or data journalism is an advantage.

Applicants should demonstrate a professional interest in journalism and the ability to apply the knowledge gained at the conference to their reporting or the wider journalism community.

Fellowship Commitment
