What this programme is offering

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar offers three funding lines to support outstanding academic, journalistic and artistic projects. The residency fellowships provide talented individuals the opportunity to conduct research for several months in the cultural city of Weimar. The recipients are invited to attend all academic and cultural events offered by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. An academic research colloquium is held on a regular basis to encourage and facilitate cross-disciplinary exchange.

The following benefits and services are also provided through the fellowship programme:

  • Free admission to all museums and historical sites of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar

  • Support and assistance from the staff of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar


Requirements for Klassik Stiftung Weimar Fellowships Fellowship Qualification

  • Fellows are required to conduct their studies in the museums and archives of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar.

  • Fellows are given the opportunity to present their projects at the research colloquium, regularly organised by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. We expect all fellows to participate in these colloquia.

  • Fellows are obliged to appropriately mention the funding provided by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar in all publications produced in connection to their stay in Weimar. The acknowledgment should be expressed as follows: “This study [or project, publication etc.] was financed through a fellowship of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar.” Fellows are required to provide the Klassik Stiftung one copy of every publication produced in connection to their research visit in Weimar.

Documents Required for Application

  • Letter of motivation

  • Abstract of your academic or artistic project (10–15 lines)

  • Brief description of the project outlining your academic interest in the subject, the current state of research and your research progress so far (4-5 pages)

  • For Bauhaus Fellowships: detailed project description outlining your prior work, tentative timetable and presentation concept (4-5 pages)

  • CV in tabular form, list of publications (if applicable)
