About the Taiwan Fellowship
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Taiwan) Taiwan Fellowship is a competitive research grant program that enables foreign scholars and experts to conduct in-depth academic research in Taiwan. The fellowship is administered by the Center for Chinese Studies at the National Central Library and supports research aligned with Taiwan’s strategic academic and policy priorities.

Cross-strait relations
Asia-Pacific regional affairs
Global supply chains and economic resilience
Energy security
Transnational repression
Undersea cables and digital infrastructure governance

Fellowship Benefits
Selected fellows receive comprehensive support during their research stay in Taiwan, including:
Monthly Stipend
Professors and senior researchers: NT$60,000
Assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral candidates: NT$50,000
Additional Benefits
One round-trip economy-class airfare to Taiwan
Research residency of 3 to 12 months
Accident and medical insurance coverage up to NT$1 million
Eligibility Criteria
The fellowship is open to international scholars who are affiliated with academic or research institutions outside Taiwan. Eligible applicants include:
Professors and associate professors
Assistant professors and postdoctoral researchers
Doctoral candidates and PhD students
Research fellows at equivalent academic levels
Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong academic backgrounds and a clear research proposal related to the fellowship themes.

Research Start Period: From January 2027 onward
