Important: This is a tuition fee scholarship, not a fully funded scholarship. Living expenses, accommodation, travel, visa costs and other personal expenses may not be covered.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Newcastle University Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship, applicants must:
Be assessed as an international student for fee purposes.
Hold an offer for an eligible undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University’s Newcastle city-centre campus for the 2027/28 academic year.
Have, or expect to achieve, a minimum of ABB at A level or an equivalent qualification.
Submit their undergraduate course application through UCAS by 13 January 2027, the Equal Consideration Deadline.
Applicants who receive an offer by 31 March 2027 must accept Newcastle University as either their Firm or Insurance choice by 3 May 2027.
Selection Criteria
Eligible applicants will be assessed based on:
Academic ability
Commitment to their chosen programme of study
Overall quality of the application
Evidence demonstrating their potential to succeed academically
Because only 30 awards are available, meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not necessarily guarantee receiving the scholarship.

How to Apply
Applicants should first apply for an eligible undergraduate programme at Newcastle University through UCAS.
Once eligible, scholarship applications should be submitted through the Newcastle University Apply to Newcastle Portal, under the “Scholarship Applications” section.
