Funding Range
Grants are expected to range from USD $20,000–$200,000.
Applicants should request the amount that is appropriate for their stage, goals, and funding needs.
How will applications be evaluated?
We evaluate applications across five core areas:
Game & Creative Vision
We are looking for games with quality, originality, and clear creative ambition.
Show us what makes your game and studio distinctive. Strong applications will demonstrate a compelling vision, evidence of progress, and a clear understanding of the audience they are building for. Playable builds, gameplay footage, prototypes, and other supporting materials are highly encouraged.
Team
At Supercell, we believe the best teams make the best games.
We're particularly interested in the people behind the studio, how they work together, and why they are uniquely positioned to succeed. We look for teams with strong execution capability, complementary skill sets, resilience, and a clear understanding of their strengths and challenges.
Community & Audience
We are interested in understanding how players are engaging with your studio, games, and development journey. There is no single metric that determines success. We look at a range of signals including community engagement, player interest, traction, and evidence that your team is building for an audience.
Potential for Impact
We are interested in studios that have the potential to create lasting impact beyond a single project. This could include building sustainable studios, creating opportunities for local talent, contributing to the growth of the games ecosystem, sharing knowledge, or helping demonstrate what is possible for game development across Africa.
There is no single definition of impact. We are interested in understanding the contribution your studio hopes to make to players, peers, and the broader industry.
Viability & Use of Funds
We want to understand how funding will help your studio move forward.
Be clear about your funding needs, how the funds will be used, and what milestones they will help you achieve. Strong applications will demonstrate thoughtful planning, realistic goals, and a clear connection between the funding requested and the outcomes it will enable. We are not looking for perfect plans. We are looking for teams that can learn, adapt, and execute effectively.
