About the opportunity

What this programme is offering

Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to projects supporting Swiss interests in Brazil while gaining valuable insight into the work of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

Exposure to Economic, Political and Cultural Affairs

The selected intern will support activities across several strategic areas of the Consulate’s work.

Key areas of engagement include:

  • Economic affairs and trade-related initiatives

  • Swiss foreign policy and international relations

  • Political monitoring and analysis

  • Communications and public diplomacy

  • Cultural affairs and bilateral cooperation

  • Stakeholder engagement and partnership development

The role is designed to provide broad exposure to diplomatic and governmental work in an international environment.

Candidate Profile and Required Skills

The Consulate is seeking highly motivated graduates with strong analytical, communication and organisational abilities.

Preferred candidates should demonstrate:

  • A strong interest in economic affairs and Swiss foreign policy

  • Ability to quickly understand new concepts and policy issues

  • Strong report-writing and research skills

  • Capacity to summarise complex information effectively

  • Flexibility to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Proficiency in Windows-based applications and social media platforms

The internship offers a dynamic working environment requiring adaptability and professionalism.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet several eligibility criteria established by the Swiss Federal Administration.

Candidates must:

  • Be Swiss citizens or legally resident in Switzerland

  • Not hold Brazilian citizenship, including dual nationality

  • Possess strong written and spoken English and Portuguese skills

  • Be fluent in at least one official Swiss language

  • Have graduated within 18 months of the internship start date

  • Not have completed more than six months of previous internships within the Swiss Federal Administration or a Swiss representation abroad

These requirements are mandatory and form part of the selection process.
