What you'll be stepping into
To independently conduct research leading to establishment of causes of plant diseases, their mode of transmission, epidemiology, forecast and management.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should hold an Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science plus a Master’s Degree in Agriculture related field.
Should have three years demonstrated relevant working experience in a reputable organization in agriculture research environment.
Proven record of publication in referred journals will be added advantage.
Possession of a PhD is an added advantage.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Identify pathogens causing plant diseases.
Undertake isolate, culture and characterise economically important plant causing pathogens.
Conduct regular surveillance of economically important crop diseases in the country.
Determine yield losses of economically important diseases on major crops
Study and understand the epidemiology (interplay of factors) of plant diseases
Develop appropriate disease management strategies.
