What you'll be stepping into
The Agricultural Outgrower Field Assistant supports operational relationships between the company and contracted or prospective farmers who supply agricultural raw materials.
The role involves conducting field visits to monitor crop progress, collecting accurate farming data, supporting farmer communication, and coordinating harvest and collection point logistics.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Visit contracted and prospective growers according to schedules prepared by agricultural, procurement, or sourcing teams.
Record farmer profiles, crop locations, crop types, planting dates, expected harvest timelines, and estimated yield quantities.
Monitor crop development and report visible concerns such as poor germination, pest damage, disease symptoms, water stress, and harvesting delays.
Avoid providing unauthorized pesticide or medical advice and refer technical agronomy inquiries to qualified personnel.
Remind farmers of agreed crop quality standards and communicate expected harvest or collection dates.
Coordinate collection points and communicate produce aggregation schedules to farming communities.
Accurately enter field data into mobile data collection forms, spreadsheets, or paper-based records.
Support the distribution and inventory recording of approved seeds, planting materials, training resources, and related agricultural inputs.
Document farmer complaints and maintain respectful, professional relationships while strictly avoiding requests for unofficial payments.

Education and Qualifications
Applicants should have one of the following:
Degree, Diploma, Certificate, National Certificate, or agricultural vocational qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Crop Science, Horticulture, Rural Development, Community Development, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Procurement, or a related discipline.
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with relevant agricultural exposure.
Experience
No prior work experience is required.
Structured onboarding training will be provided covering crop specifications, mobile data collection tools, farmer communication, collection logistics, and field safety.
