What you'll be stepping into
3. ROLE
The Associate Professor – Computer Science shall report to the Head of Department, Computing, AI and Data Science and shall:
a. Provide academic and research leadership in Computer Science teaching, innovation and scholarly activities.
b. Lead the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science programmes.
c. Strengthen the Department's research profile through high-quality publications, postgraduate supervision and grant acquisition.

d. Mentor academic staff and support institutional quality assurance, curriculum development and accreditation.
e. Promote strategic partnerships with industry, government, professional bodies and international institutions.
f. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department, Dean or University Management.
4. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide academic leadership in Computer Science through excellence in teaching, research, innovation and postgraduate supervision; strengthen the Department's research culture and international visibility; promote industry collaboration and resource mobilisation; and contribute to the University's strategic objectives in teaching, research and community engagement.
5. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate shall:
a. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and related computing disciplines.
b. Lead curriculum development, programme review and accreditation activities to ensure compliance with NCHE requirements and international best practices.
c. Supervise undergraduate research projects and supervise Master's students to completion while actively supervising or co-supervising PhD students.
d. Conduct high-quality research in Computer Science and publish consistently in reputable peer-reviewed journals and internationally recognised conference proceedings.
e. Lead multidisciplinary research projects and contribute to the Department's strategic research agenda in areas such as software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud computing, distributed systems and emerging computing technologies.
f. Secure competitive research grants and establish collaborative research programmes with local and international partners.
g. Mentor Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers and Teaching Assistants in teaching, research, publication and career development.
h. Participate in departmental, School and University governance, quality assurance and academic planning.

i. Develop and strengthen partnerships with industry to support student internships, collaborative research, consultancy and innovation.
j. Represent the University in professional bodies, academic conferences, workshops and computing-related forums.
k. Support departmental initiatives including coding competitions, hackathons, digital innovation programmes, cybersecurity awareness campaigns and technology outreach activities.
l. Perform any other duties assigned by the University Management.
6. CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
6.1 Academic Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
a. An earned PhD in Computer Science or a closely related computing discipline from a recognised university.
b. A Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related computing discipline.
c. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant post-PhD academic and/or industry experience, including at least three (3) years at the rank of Senior Lecturer or its equivalent.
d. A minimum of five (5) peer-reviewed publications since appointment or promotion to Senior Lecturer, demonstrating a coherent and progressive research trajectory.
e. Successful supervision of at least two (2) Master's students to completion, together with active PhD supervision or co-supervision.
f. Demonstrated success in attracting research or development funding and evidence of academic leadership through programme coordination, research group leadership or committee chairing.
6.2 Teaching, Research and Innovation
Applicants should demonstrate:
a. Excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development.
b. A strong and sustained research record in Computer Science or related computing disciplines.
c. Experience leading multidisciplinary research and innovation initiatives.
d. Ability to supervise postgraduate research and mentor early-career researchers.

e. Commitment to integrating emerging technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches into computing education.
f. Evidence of publishing in internationally recognised journals and presenting research at national and international conferences.
6.3 Leadership, Partnerships and Industry Engagement
Applicants should demonstrate:
a. Experience providing academic leadership and mentoring junior academic staff.
b. Participation in curriculum review, accreditation, quality assurance and academic governance.
c. Ability to establish strategic partnerships with industry, government, research institutions and international collaborators.
d. Experience supporting consultancy, technology transfer, innovation and graduate employability initiatives.
e. Active membership in recognised professional bodies.
6.4 Technical and Professional Competencies
Applicants should possess:
a. Advanced knowledge of Computer Science, software engineering and modern computing technologies.
b. Expertise in one or more areas such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, distributed systems, software engineering, computer networks or systems architecture.
c. Competence in modern software development environments, digital learning platforms and collaborative research tools.
d. Excellent analytical, strategic planning, project management and problem-solving skills.
6.5 Personal Attributes

7. REMUNERATION
An attractive remuneration package shall be offered in accordance with King Ceasor University's Terms and Conditions of Service.
8. TENURE
The Associate Professor – Computer Science shall hold office in accordance with King Ceasor University's Terms and Conditions of Service and subject to satisfactory performance.
