What you'll be stepping into

CHEF DE PARTIE

Kampala Marriott Hotel

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Prepare special meals or substitute menu items as required.

  • Regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.

  • Retrieve food from freezer storage and thaw it appropriately in the refrigerator.

  • Ensure proper food portioning, arrangement, and garnishing.

  • Maintain accurate food preparation and production logs.

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared.

  • Communicate assistance needed during busy periods to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

  • Inform the Chef of excess food items that may be utilised in daily specials.

  • Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock menu items.

  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all food items.

  • Prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.

  • Prepare cold food items as required.

Team Support and Management

  • Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, while serving as a positive role model.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support the team in achieving common goals.

  • Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

  • Ensure adherence to established quality expectations and standards.

Safety, Security and Professional Standards

  • Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures.

  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the manager.

  • Complete all required safety training and certifications.

  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean, professional, and in accordance with company standards.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information.

  • Protect company assets and resources.

  • Anticipate and respond appropriately to guests' service needs.

  • Communicate with colleagues and guests using clear and professional language.

Physical Requirements and Other Duties

  • Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.

  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to and including 25 pounds without assistance.

  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.

Related Work Experience

  • At least three (3) years of related work experience.

Supervisory Experience

  • No supervisory experience required.

License or Certification

  • None required.
