What you'll be stepping into
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture, preferably in Crop Production and Management, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Agroecology, or a closely related field.
A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Agroecology, Agricultural Extension, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
Additional training and certification in Regenerative Agriculture, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), Agroforestry, Soil and Water Conservation, and Sustainable Land Management will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience implementing regenerative agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, food security or natural resource management projects.
Experience working with farmer organizations, community groups, schools and local government extension systems.
Experience facilitating community trainings and field demonstrations.
Previous experience working with NGOs or development partners is an added advantage.
Job Level Specifications
Strong understanding of climate adaptation and environmental sustainability principles.
Good knowledge of regenerative agriculture, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land management.
Practical understanding of Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), agroforestry and ecosystem restoration.
Knowledge of soil health improvement techniques including composting, mulching, green manures and organic soil amendments.
Understanding of water harvesting technologies including bioswales, contour bunds, terraces and small-scale irrigation systems.
Experience facilitating adult learning using participatory approaches such as Farmer Field Schools (FFS).
Strong community mobilization, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Good report writing, documentation and computer skills (Microsoft Office applications).
Ability to work independently under minimum supervision in remote field locations.

As the Project Assistant- Regenerative Agriculture your overall responsibilities will be (JDs Key Result Areas):
Implementation of Regenerative Agriculture Interventions (40%)
Community Capacity Strengthening and Farmer Organization Support (25%)
Water Management, Landscape Restoration and Climate Resilience (20%)
Monitoring, Documentation and Collaboration (15%)
