What you'll be stepping into
The Insurance Agent is responsible for generating new business, building and maintaining client relationships, and promoting NIC Life Assurance products and services to prospective customers. The role focuses on prospecting, customer acquisition, policy retention, and delivering sustainable premium growth while adhering to regulatory requirements, company policies, and ethical standards.
Key Result Areas:
Duties and Obligations
You shall be required to do the following;
Prospect on a daily basis.
Achieve personal and Team production and productivity targets, usually allotted by the Unit Manager.
Attend field activations as instructed by the manager.
Attend meetings and team hurdles to help follow up and manage your daily activities. You may also be called upon to attend any unplanned but much-needed meetings. Continuous absence from meetings and hurdles, without a valid explanation may also lead to termination.
Submit a daily activity report to your Unit Manager.
Obtain a license from the Insurance Regulatory Authority authorizing you to work as an insurance Agent. The company will assist you with the process.
Enroll, sit and pass COP exams within the time stipulated by the IRA, which is one year.
Ensure persistence of business brought in by yourself.
Observe and comply with the Company Code of Ethics, all laws, regulations, standards and policies of the Company.
Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Agent’s performance may be measured on:
Number of policies sold.
Premium income generated.
Number of qualified prospects contacted.
Conversion rate from prospects to policyholders.
Policy persistency and retention rates.
Daily activity levels (appointments, presentations, proposals submitted).
Compliance and quality of business written.
Contribution to team production targets.
Job Qualifications and Experience:
Academic Qualifications
Minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Insurance, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Professional Qualifications
Must obtain a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance within the period stipulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) of Uganda.
Must obtain and maintain a valid Insurance Agent License issued by the IRA.
Additional certifications in sales, customer service, financial planning, or insurance will be an added advantage.
Job skills and abilities:
Experience
Previous experience in sales, marketing, customer service, business development, or financial services is preferred.
Experience in insurance, banking, microfinance, SACCOs, telecommunications, FMCG, real estate, or direct sales environments will be an added advantage.
Fresh graduates with strong interpersonal and sales skills are encouraged to apply.
