The successful candidate will provide safe, reliable, and professional transportation services in support of company operations. This includes transporting employees, authorized passengers, equipment, materials, and other approved items during field operations, activations, customer engagements, events, and other official business activities.
The role requires a highly responsible individual with strong driving skills, a commitment to road safety, good knowledge of the Eastern Region, and the ability to maintain high standards of professionalism.

Main Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for MTN Uganda staff, authorized passengers, equipment, and materials. The Van Driver will support field operations, customer engagements, activations, events, and other official company activities while ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, company policies, and established safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safe and Professional Transportation
The successful candidate will safely transport MTN Uganda employees, authorized passengers, equipment, and materials to designated locations. The driver must comply with all applicable traffic laws, company policies, and defensive driving practices to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and the protection of company property.
Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
The Van Driver will conduct routine daily inspections to ensure that the assigned vehicle remains safe, clean, and roadworthy. Any mechanical faults, accidents, damage, or safety concerns must be reported promptly to the appropriate person or department.
The driver will also help ensure that the vehicle is properly maintained and ready to support daily operational requirements.
Operational and Field Support
The role involves supporting a range of regional activities, including MTN activations, customer engagements, field visits, events, and other operational assignments.
The successful candidate must be willing to respond to urgent or emergency assignments when required and demonstrate flexibility in supporting the needs of the regional team.
Record Keeping and Asset Protection
The Van Driver will maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption, mileage, servicing, and other relevant information.
The role also requires the responsible handling and protection of company vehicles, equipment, documents, and other assets assigned to the driver.
Professional Conduct and Compliance
The successful candidate will maintain a professional image that reflects the MTN brand and demonstrate courtesy when interacting with employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
The driver must comply with Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) requirements and carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor or Regional Management.
Educational Requirements
Applicants should possess:
A minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or an equivalent qualification.
Work Experience and Other Requirements
Valid Driving Licence and Professional Experience
Applicants must possess a valid and current driving licence appropriate for operating passenger vans or minibuses.
Candidates should have at least three years of professional driving experience.
Passenger Vehicle Driving Competence
Applicants should demonstrate proven experience in driving passenger vehicles or minibuses carrying 15 or more passengers.
A clean driving record and a strong understanding of defensive driving, road safety, and accident prevention are essential.
Knowledge of the Eastern Region
Candidates should have good knowledge of roads, towns, trading centres, districts, and rural routes within Uganda's Eastern Region.
The successful candidate must be willing to travel extensively within the region and work flexible hours when operational requirements demand.
Language and Communication Skills
Applicants should be able to communicate effectively in at least two local languages, preferably Lusoga and Luganda.
Good verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and a customer-focused approach are important for effective interaction with staff, customers, and other stakeholders.
Vehicle Maintenance and Technology Skills
The successful candidate should have a basic understanding of vehicle inspection and routine maintenance.
The role also requires the ability to use smartphones and relevant field coordination tools, including navigation applications such as Google Maps, WhatsApp, and other digital communication platforms.
Professionalism and Fitness
Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, reliability, and a strong customer-focused attitude when dealing with employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
