What this programme is offering
The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) has announced applications for its Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) 2026–27, inviting outstanding Indian nationals, foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) to pursue advanced research across engineering, sciences, humanities, design, management, and interdisciplinary fields.
The fellowship is designed for exceptional early-career researchers with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated research excellence. Successful fellows will have the opportunity to conduct advanced research under the mentorship of IIT Jodhpur faculty while contributing to teaching and interdisciplinary academic activities.
The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of ₹80,000, an annual research contingency grant of ₹50,000, hostel accommodation subject to availability, and an initial tenure of two years, with the possibility of extension into a third year in exceptional cases.

IIT Jodhpur Post-Doctoral Fellowship Benefits
Successful fellows will receive financial and professional support throughout the fellowship period.
Financial Benefits
The fellowship package includes:
₹80,000 monthly fellowship
Annual increment of up to 10%, subject to satisfactory performance
₹50,000 annual contingency grant for research-related expenses
Support for attending national and international conferences through the contingency fund
Hostel accommodation on a payment basis, subject to availability
Reimbursement of Second AC train fare for shortlisted candidates attending interviews
Fellows will also receive 30 days of paid leave per year, calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the IIT Jodhpur Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2026–27 must meet the programme requirements.
Eligible applicants include:
Indian nationals
Foreign nationals
Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs)
Applicants must also:
Hold a PhD with a first-class or equivalent academic record in the relevant discipline.
Demonstrate excellent research output through publications and/or patents.
Apply within two years of completing the PhD.
Preferably be 35 years of age or younger.
Women and eligible reserved category candidates receive a five-year age relaxation.
Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis may also apply, provided they submit the provisional PhD degree within three months of appointment.
Important: Current IIT Jodhpur PhD scholars are not eligible to apply for this fellowship.
Selection Process
The selection process begins with the relevant academic department or school reviewing applications and shortlisting eligible candidates.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to:
Give a presentation on their proposed research.
Participate in an interview.
Selected fellows will subsequently undergo an annual performance review conducted by the Performance Assessment Committee (PAC).
Continuation into the second year will depend on satisfactory research performance. A third-year extension may be considered in exceptional cases.
