About the opportunity

What this programme is offering

Applications are expected for the 2027 McCall MacBain International Fellowships, a programme designed to help eligible Canadian undergraduate students develop intercultural understanding and international connections through a year-long experience abroad.

The fellowship aims to strengthen participants’ creativity, resilience, independence and critical-thinking skills by exposing them to different cultures, learning environments and perspectives.

The programme is available to eligible undergraduate students at McGill University, McMaster University, Dalhousie University and the University of Manitoba. Current recipients of the MacBain Niagara Falls and McCall Huron County scholarships may also qualify.

Benefits of the McCall MacBain International Fellowships

Selected fellows may receive financial and practical support to undertake their international experience, including:

  • Funding of up to CAD $30,000 towards eligible expenses associated with studying abroad.

  • Tuition fee support, provided through the fellow’s home university under the programme’s arrangements.

  • Travel and establishment allowance to help cover travel and initial expenses.

  • Monthly living stipend during the academic and language-study periods.

  • Language course allowance to support language learning.

  • Medical allowance for eligible expenses.

  • Country contact to provide local support during the international experience.

The exact funding package and covered expenses are subject to the fellowship’s official terms and conditions.
