"Why should we choose you over other equally qualified candidates?"
This is your opportunity to clearly communicate your Unique Value Proposition (UVP)—the distinctive combination of skills, experience, mindset, and personal qualities that make you an exceptional candidate.
The panel wants to understand:
What differentiates you from other candidates?
How will you contribute to the organization's success?
What measurable value will you create?
How will you improve the team, department, or organization?
Your answer should not simply be a list of skills. Instead, it should explain how your skills translate into value and results.
WHAT THE INTERVIEW PANEL IS REALLY ASKING

What makes you different?
Why are you the best investment for this position?
How will our organization benefit from hiring you?
The strongest candidates focus less on themselves and more on the value they will create for the organization.
THE V.A.L.U.E. METHOD
A professional framework for answering this question is:
V – Value Proposition
State what makes you unique.
A – Abilities
Highlight your key strengths and competencies.
L – Link to Organizational Needs
Explain how your strengths solve the organization's challenges.
U – Unique Contribution
Describe what you will do differently.
E – Expected Impact

Interview Tip
Before every interview, identify the 3–5 competencies the employer is seeking from the job description (e.g., leadership, financial management, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, communication). Then tailor your answer so that your "unique value" directly addresses those competencies. This makes your response specific, credible, and highly relevant to the role rather than generic.
