What you'll be stepping into

he Agriculture Lecturer is responsible for delivering instruction in Agriculture, conducting practical sessions, and contributing to research and curriculum development.

  • Teaching and Learning: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in Agriculture, covering topics such as crop production, animal husbandry, soil science, agribusiness, and sustainable farming practices.

  • Practical Instruction: Organize and supervise hands-on practical sessions, including field demonstrations, farm visits, and agricultural experiments to reinforce theoretical concepts and develop students' practical skills.

  • Student Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects, practicum, and dissertations related to Agriculture. Provide academic guidance to support their professional development.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Set, administer, and grade assignments, practical reports, tests, and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback. Conduct continuous assessments and end-of-semester examinations to evaluate student progress.

  • Research and Scholarship: Conduct research in Agriculture and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals. Seek external research funding and contribute to the body of knowledge in the field.

  • Farm  Management: Oversee and contribute to the management of university demonstration farms to provide practical learning opportunities for students.

  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design, review, and improvement of the Agriculture curriculum to ensure it meets national and international standards.

  • Community Engagement: Engage with farmers, agricultural organizations, and relevant stakeholders to promote agricultural innovation and extension services.

  • Academic Service: Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, serve on academic committees, and contribute to the overall development of the department.
