What you'll be stepping into

The English Lecturer is responsible for delivering instruction in English Language and Literature, developing students' communication and analytical skills.

  • Teaching and Learning: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials in English Language and Literature. Design and develop course materials, ensuring content is current, relevant, and aligned with the curriculum.

  • Student Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects, dissertations, and creative writing. Provide academic guidance to foster their professional development.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Set, administer, and grade assignments, essays, tests, and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback. Conduct continuous assessments and end-of-semester examinations to evaluate student progress.

  • Research and Scholarship: Conduct research in English Language, Literature, or related fields and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals. Seek external research funding and contribute to the body of knowledge.

  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design, review, and improvement of the English curriculum to ensure it meets national and international standards.

  • Promote Literacy: Foster a culture of reading, writing, and critical thinking among students.

  • Academic Service: Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, serve on academic committees, and contribute to the overall development of the department.

Tenure of Appointment: Appointments for Salary Scales PU1 to PU3 are issued on a contract basis.
