Role overview
What you'll be stepping into
Responsible for supervising Feeders and ensuring optimal survival, growth and FCR is achieved. Gives oversight to a unit group/cage site, helping the Feed supervisor and covering their duties when they are off.
KEY DUTIES (General)
Ensure that yourself and team adhere to health and safety practices set out by the company
Conducting toolbox safety talks with your team daily
Ensure that your team has the required resources needed to perform their duties
Motivating your team to perform to their best and constantly improve, adhering to time keeping
Ensuring that the members of your line feed their fish properly to ensure maximum growth rate and minimum FCR
If there are any issues with any cages that these be solved and/or reported to the line manager
Ensuring feeders are collecting and disposing mortalities correctly
Weekly reviews of each units feeding performance with the team leader.
Daily checks of each cage: you need to spend time with each feeder feeding each cage daily.
Every feeder should have their empty feed bag count verified against what they fed that day.
Placing an order of feed for your line(site) with the feed store supervisor for the following days feeding requirements
Will also be required to feed when feeders are on leave.
Carry out other tasks when needed as specified by the line manager
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in fisheries and aquaculture
Experience with cage farming is beneficial
Must be able to swim
Good excel skills
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Hardworking, capable of being involved in farming operations
Good interpersonal skills
Must be confident to give out instructions and lead a team
Must show good endurance and persistence.
Must have an eye for detail
Must be willing to constantly learn more and develop their knowledge and skills
