What you'll be stepping into
The Assistant Lecturer, Architecture and Design delivers lectures, guides studio design projects and grades students’ work. Reports to the Head of Department, Humanities and Performing Arts.
Basic Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Engineering or Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field.
Job Tasks
Demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail in upholding high standards of appearance and organisation in design studios, workshops and related campus facilities.
Bridge theoretical design concepts with real-world construction standards and professional architectural practice when supporting student projects and practical sessions.
Apply knowledge of structural systems, environmental controls and sustainable building codes to instructional support and design-project guidance.
Uphold Christian values by modelling environmental stewardship and ethical work practices that respect God’s creation in all design-related activities.
Translate abstract design theories into clear, structured, step-by-step project briefs and measurable learning outcomes for students.
Assist senior academic staff in the delivery of design studios, lectures, tutorials and practical workshops.
Support the supervision and critique of undergraduate student design projects under the guidance of senior lecturers.
Prepare, organise and upload teaching materials, project briefs and digital resources to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Assist with the setting, invigilation and marking of coursework, design portfolios and examinations as directed by the Head of Department.
Help manage design studios, workshops and equipment to ensure safe, efficient and professional learning environments.
