What you'll be stepping into

Lecturer, Animal Health provides high-quality teaching, research, and community service in Animal Health in order to contribute to the academic and development objectives. Reports to the Head of Department, Animal Health, Production and Biosecurity

Basic Qualifications

Either a related academic Doctorate or a Masters Degree with six (06) years teaching experience in the same discipline plus at least three publications in a refereed journal or a book chapter. Registered with a relevant professional body.

Job Tasks

  1. Deliver practical instruction in Veterinary-related laboratory and field courses in support of departmental and Faculty teaching needs.

  2. Provide specialist technical advice to University Management on the operations and development of the University Farm.

  3. Deliver assigned lecture units as directed by the Head of Department.

  4. Plan, design and continuously develop structured teaching programmes encompassing lectures, seminars and tutorials.

  5. Upload and maintain teaching content on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

  6. Set, invigilate and mark coursework, tests and examinations, and upload final results into the academic management system.

  7. Develop original learning and teaching materials (print, digital and practical resources).

  8. Conduct personal scholarly research and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects.

  9. Design, participate in and lead academic outreach and community-engagement programmes.

  10. Prepare and publish research outputs in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and other scholarly platforms.

  11. Supervise students during industrial internships, clinical placements or school practice.

  12. Undertake any additional duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
