What you'll be stepping into
Lecturer Law is to support the delivery of high-quality undergraduate education, assist in student assessment and develop initial research and teaching capabilities. Reports to Head of Law.
Basic Qualifications
Either a related academic Doctorate or a Masters Degree with six (06) years of teaching experience in the same discipline plus at least three publications in a refereed journal or a book chapter.
Tasks
Deliver inspiring lectures and seminars that cultivate students’ appreciation of legal principles, logical reasoning, justice and real-world applications of the law.
Explain complex legal concepts clearly and engagingly to diverse groups of learners through lectures, tutorials and discussion forums.
Integrate Christian ethical principles: integrity, diligence and service—into teaching, research and professional conduct within legal education.
Apply rigorous analytical skills and legal-research tools (including relevant digital platforms and software) to support teaching and scholarly work.
Design and implement innovative, technology-enhanced and problem-based teaching methods tailored to legal education.
Mentor students, promote inclusivity and actively support underrepresented groups in legal studies and the broader legal profession.
Develop original teaching materials, case studies, problem scenarios and digital resources, and upload them to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Set, invigilate, mark and grade coursework, continuous assessments, tests and examinations, and upload results to the academic system.
Supervise students in clinical legal education, moot-court competitions, legal-aid clinics, internships and practical placements.
Conduct independent legal research and publish scholarly outputs in peer-reviewed journals, books and conference proceedings.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects, dissertations and theses in law.
Participate in the review, design and continuous improvement of law curricula to meet national and professional regulatory standards.
Prepare and submit research proposals and grant applications to secure funding for legal education, research and community-justice initiatives.
Contribute to community legal outreach, public legal education and access-to-justice programmes.
Perform assigned departmental administrative duties and support quality-assurance and programme-accreditation processes.
