What you'll be stepping into
The Chiller & Commercial Refrigeration Specialist is responsible for operating and maintaining glycol chilling plants and industrial ammonia and R404a refrigeration systems used for cooling water and beverages.
The role focuses on ensuring reliable utility performance, precise temperature regulation, plant safety, and compliance with product quality and operational requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operate glycol chilling plants and industrial ammonia and R404a refrigeration systems according to established production and cooling parameters.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on chiller loops across utility and beverage cooling installations.
Conduct refrigerant leak detection tests and implement immediate corrective containment measures when leaks are identified.
Carry out industrial compressor overhauls, servicing, and component replacements.
Precisely regulate temperature controls to protect product quality and maintain required water-cooling conditions.
Accurately record operational parameters, machine settings, maintenance histories, and shift reports to maintain complete traceability.
Enforce occupational health and safety, food safety, hygiene, and lockout/isolation procedures during all refrigeration-related interventions.
Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to schedule utility operations and minimize operational downtime.

Education and Qualifications
Applicants should meet one of the following requirements:
Higher Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or Mechanical Engineering.
Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, or Higher Diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Business Management, Procurement, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Sales, Mass Communication, Public Relations, International Business, Retail Management, Customer Service, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Computing, or a related discipline.
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), with demonstrated technical aptitude and willingness to complete internal technical training.
