Multi Head Weigher Scale Technician

• Calibrate, clean, and maintain multi head combination weigh scales mounted above baggers to ensure packaging accuracy and equipment reliability.

• Deliver end to end technical maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep packaging lines operating safely and efficiently.

• Safeguard food safety, weight compliance, and equipment integrity through rigorous preventive maintenance and accurate record keeping.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Calibrate multi head combination weigh scales and configure target weight programs to maintain packaging accuracy.

• Clean and sanitize scale hoppers and components following strict food safety and hygiene procedures.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair load cells, mechanical linkages, and electrical systems using technical manuals and fault codes.

• Execute safe isolation and stored energy control procedures before undertaking any intrusive repair or maintenance tasks.

• Verify machine guards, safety interlocks, calibrations, and functional performance before handing equipment back to operations.

• Carry out planned preventive and predictive maintenance inspections, noting early warning signs like vibration, wear, or declining performance.

• Maintain complete, legible, and traceable maintenance histories, checklists, calibration data, and shift handover records.

• Coordinate with packaging operators and shift supervisors to plan maintenance windows and communicate safe machine release status.

• Escalate critical equipment failures, safety hazards, and suspected product contamination risks immediately through approved channels.

Skills

• Precision scale calibration and target weight programming

• Load cell troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic capabilities

• Technical fault isolation using equipment manuals, drawings, and HMI/PLC screens

• Safe isolation, lock out, and safe work control practices

• Hygienic maintenance and hopper cleaning procedures

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, National Diploma, National Certificate, Craft Certificate, Trade Certificate, or recognized Apprenticeship (including UBTEB and TVET equivalents)

• Acceptable technical disciplines include Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, Automation and Control, Instrumentation, Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Fitting, Welding and Fabrication, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Automotive Engineering, Water Engineering, Chemical Technology, Civil or Building Engineering, Plumbing, Marine Engineering, or closely related technical fields

• Applicable statutory or specialist credentials such as ERA electrical installation permits, ERB/UPE registration, PLC certifications, or manufacturer specific training where required

Experience

• At least 1 year of experience operating or servicing multi head weigh scales.
