Role overview

What you'll be stepping into

Focuses on educating students, conducting impactful research, and engaging with the community to mitigate health risks related to the environment (e.g., water sanitation, waste management, and occupational health). Reports to the Head of Department, Public Health

Basic Qualifications

A PhD in a related field or a masters degree with at least 6 years of progressive experience in the same discipline plus at least three publications in a referred journal or book chapter.

Job tasks

  1. Design and deliver formal, research-informed lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

  2. Create and set coursework assignments, tests, and formal examinations.

  3. Administer and invigilate scheduled tests and examinations.

  4. Assess and mark submitted coursework, tests, and examination scripts; compile and finalise student grades.

  5. Offer individual academic counselling and performance feedback to students.

  6. Undertake independent scholarly research and publish or present findings in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and academic forums.

  7. Provide research supervision and mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students completing dissertations or theses.

  8. Lead interactive small-group seminars and tutorial sessions focused on discussion, application, and skill development.

  9. Execute assigned departmental administrative and operational responsibilities under the direction of the Head of Department.

  10. Contribute to institutional and community outreach initiatives that support the university’s public-engagement mandate.
