Role overview

What you'll be stepping into

To support the Directorate in carrying out its legal functions and responsibilities in accordance with the National Information Technology Authority Act, 2009, and other applicable laws and regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions on assigned matters.

  • Prepare and review routine and small-value contracts.

  • Prepare and review non-complex and routine Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

  • Provide clerical and administrative support in the preparation of contracts and Memoranda of Understanding.

  • Assist in preparing court pleadings.

  • Perform clerical duties related to the preparation, filing, and service of court documents and reports.

  • Attend and observe court proceedings as part of a watching brief, in the company of NITA-U lawyers and designated State Attorneys.

  • Conduct legal due diligence as assigned.

  • Prepare internal and external letters, legal correspondence, and memoranda.

  • Attend meetings and provide legal support as assigned.

  • Conduct internal legal awareness and sensitisation activities.

  • Deliver, receive, and file internal and external correspondence.

  • Organise, maintain, and properly file Directorate documents and records.

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university.

  • A Diploma in Legal Practice is required.

Experience

  • At least six (6) months of relevant experience in legal practice, corporate legal services, regulatory work, or compliance within a reputable public or corporate organisation.
